It's All About the Conversation in 2018!
Here at The Social Lamb, we know that every cloud has a silver lining, and as your Social Media experts, we feel it is our duty to educate and inform you on everything that is happening in the online realm, so you can feel calm and confident that we’ve got you covered!
The topic on everyone’s lips at the moment is Facebook’s latest News Feed update, and to sum it up in a way that is easy to understand, Facebook has taken the decision to shift their focus away from showing people what they deem the most ‘relevant’ content (based on their algorithms) and more towards helping people and brands have more meaningful social interactions.
Our focus at The Social Lamb, has always been to create relevant content that has meaning for our clients, and we pride ourselves on staying informed and ahead of the curve. We have already taken steps to protect our clients against being affected by any major changes Facebook might introduce, now or in the future whilst staying true to our core values of honesty, integrity and authenticity.
In some ways, Facebook’s latest move seems to encourage users to be more cognizant of what they are posting on the platform, to create content that is relevant to their audiences and more geared towards driving engagement and conversation than ever before. Facebook was, after all, created as a way for people to connect with each other and allow them to interact online in the most authentic and meaningful way.
For consumers, on a personal level, this is good news! For some time now, Facebook has begun to feel more like an advertising platform than a social engagement network so we are looking forward to seeing more content that is personally of value to us than simply advertising businesses, products or services.
For businesses, especially those in the business of distributing news content, Facebook’s latest bombshell may come as a shock, but this is not the first time nor will it be the last time the Social Media giant implements a big, seemingly ‘disruptive’ update. Although such changes could seem counter-productive to businesses that have worked hard to build a following and a presence online, it actually encourages us as users and business people to cultivate an innovative mindset and to diversify our marketing and online efforts wherever possible.
What we truly believe in and hold ourselves to is that if you have integrity and authenticity in everything you share online and are truly interested in what your audience has to say, you will continue to remain relevant and mostly unaffected by even the most drastic of changes on the part of Facebook or any other platform.
Some of the steps we are taking with our own Social Media efforts as well as those of our clients as we go forward into the future, are to spark even more conversations, have even more meaningful interactions, ask more questions and engage in healthy debate on topics that encourage more user participation. Using authentic photography/videography and Live updates are also on the cards, oh yes you better be ready for it! You can rest assured that we are doing all we can to ensure that you and your business are well informed and reaching your full potential in the online space!
With love, The Lambs
